McElhaney Unit overview Essay comparing early expansion with late expansion

all right welcome back today is Wednesday March 18th the day after St Patrick's Day this is day three of the Coronavirus outbreak or schools are let out and so we're trying to help kids learn a little bit while they're on vacation and it's all up to you though some basic reminder we are in a new unit and it's called us has a form as a world power there's two chapters you need to look at in this is only on foreign policy so for example pay attention to chapter 20 pay attention to chapter 20 that's the first part this is the foreign policy were looking at 1865 to 1914 basically before World War 1 these are the key elements you got to know about Alaska he have to know of what are Latin American involvement that's going to culminate the Latin America stuff going to culminate in the big stick policy which I really don't know how to edit on this document so kind of at a disadvantage I don't know what I'm doing here I've been I don't know how to go back to where he'll flies okay well we'll Doctrine very very important Taft Dollar Diplomacy lots of connections to today and then Wilson moral diplomacy which is the fundamental most important idea in the early 20th century foreign policy discussion Wilson is the Super Bowl our he is The Guiding Light in American foreign policy as far as the twentieth centuries concerned collective security things of that nature of the UN all those are part of what time Wilson is going to Advocate all right and then the next part is World War 1 I don't know how long we're going to go today I'm already it's been about 5 minutes or so so we're going native populations we we want the territory for economic purposes white supremacy I guess that's what the racial component is it is a fundamental underlying background to it so early Mansion main idea is within the continental United States that we dominate native populations you know some major elements are these what is the hottest day these are Big examples Treaty of Paris we get his Hispanic population really comes in to slay when we get down here to the Mexican Cession so that's much better located there other than that that's why the early expansion think of those topics and again there is a pattern that develops and then lay expansion if you want to do a brainstorm different ways we get territory I forgot that pattern how we get the territory or how the United States gets the territory get get their choice elf first it's purchase purchase treaty annexation and more those are the three ways how we get this territory and then you need to make sure that you're able to identify the three ways so Louisiana Purchase Adams Onis Treaty annexation of Texas and then the Mexican-American War and so in that way and that's a pattern you can identify an early expansion later you a Reno brief detail and then so that's one and then the differences early early expansion and then differences late expansion difference also did you get that this is a I think an easy way to write that essay and that takes care of all of the information you need when you go back to what what what exactly are we looking at we're looking at purchase of Alaska we're looking at Latin America where we get involved with Panama Canal open door policy that the Spanish-American War all of those are answered in this question mean while you get. expansion in the late expansion so hopefully that
