We learned about the corrupted government of President Nicolas Maduro which caused the economic collapse of Venezuela. We also learned about the different groups of people who support and oppose him. We learned about the exodus (mass departure of people fleeing a region) of Venezuelans escaping extreme poverty and dangerous social conditions in search of a better life. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gR6hqyOA6E. So far over 4.8 million people have fled Venezuela. This is the worlds second largest migration of people behind the Syria. Many countries are helping these refugees. What do you think we can do to help refugees looking for a better life?

We are completing the final activity of Unit  30 on medical terminology and commands in the tú form with pronouns. For affirmative commands we attach the pronouns to the end of the conjugated verb; The indirect object pronoun goes before the direct object pronoun at the end of the verb. IE, dámela is give it to me. For negative commands, we place the pronouns before the conjugated verb. The indirect object pronoun is placed before the direct object pronoun separately before the conjugated verb. IE, no me la des is don't give it to me. We beginning Unit 31 on Sports and the Present Progressive Tense.  The present progressive tense is a compound verb structure that has begins with the verb estar in the present tense and main verb in the gerund form that describes the action currently happening. Examples of the the present progressive in English are: I am walking and We are playing. The conjugations for the main verb estar are: yo estoy, tú estás, él, está, ella está, usted está, nosotros estamos, nosotras estamos, ellos están, ellas están, and ustedes están. The gerund in Spanish is formed by removing the final two letters of the infinitive verb and adding the following endings: -ando for -ar ending verbs, and -iendo for -er and -ir ending verbs. I am walking in Spanish would be Yo estoy corriendo, and We are playing is Nosotros estamos jugando.

We saw a video about the giant Cuzco Corn from Perú called el choclo. El choclo is called hominy in the United States. El choclo comes in dark red, purple, brown colors as well as white and yellow. El choclo is also used to make a refreshing punch drink.

Everyone should be at 35% in overall progress by today, Tuesday September 29. If not, then you are behind in completing your lessons everyday. You need to step up your game and dedicate more time to carefully learn your Spanish lessons and complete the activities.

Your grade on the progress report will be the actual grade not the overall grade. The actual grade is your grade based on the work you have completed along with the work you have yet to complete up to that day’s work as stated in the scope and sequence of the course.

By today, Tuesday September 29, 2020, Everyone should be completed with Unit 6 and beginning Unit 7.

If you need help or have any questions during our class period, remember stay in our Zoom room or you can rejoin our Zoom room throught the class period. Remember to do your Spanish lessons on Edgenuity everyday during the remainder of he class period and again in the afternoon for at least 2 more hours so that you can catch up by this Friday.

If you are using Edgenuity AND you are experiencing problems within that software, FOLLOW THESE STEPS.

 

Make sure they are using updated Chrome Browser.  I bet most having problems are not.   They also must have updated Adobe Flash Player on their computers to see those interactive activities, or they will continue to have problems.  Students who use Macs always tend to have more problems than students who use PCs or Chromebooks.  If kids are using their own personal computers, encourage them to pick up school Chromebooks

2: click three dots in top right corner
3: click more tools
4: click clear browsing data
5: before clicking clear data, change the setting from last hour to all time
6: clear data
7: close tab
8: click the bottom left corner of the screen with the time

10: after it goes black screen, turn it back on
11: log in
12: go to Edgenuity and check to see if it works

Hola, many of you have already signed up to receive updates on our class here on Edlio (where I post all our of class updates), and have also signed up to join our class on Google Classroom. Be careful that you have joined the correct class period on Google Classroom. 
 
We are beginning this week with a light introduction to the Spanish language with el alfabeto en español, the alphabet in Spanish. Open the attachment below to begin our first activity of the year on learning the alfabeto en español.  To help us learn el alfabeto en español, we will learn a song to help us remember all the letters and their pronunciations en español. Here is a quick link to the song on YouTube. We will have a short oral test on el alfabeto en español next week for 5 points.
