okay well I am having word problems right now so I had to restart this again let's just get to the election of 1912 call it a day shall we I like that song though all right so Taft upsets TR over this Ballinger Pinchot Affair and TR comes back in and says I'm going to run for president 1912 he calls his program New Nationalism his if party he's he starts in the Republican party which is the GOP right he starts there but the GOP doesn't like t r they're tired of him because he's too radical they support half the old trust old Republican money starts to go after Taft heat they reject ER so TR creates a third party and that's known as the Progressive Party or the Bull Moose Party and what will happen is that this party this Bull Moose Party will pull votes away that were from the GOP and so what will happen in the election 1812 lots of people will vote for TR that are Republicans Lots will vote for Taft and who will win will be the the Democratic party was Woodrow Wilson he gets all a Democratic votes and he went to an overwhelming victory well. Overwhelming will look at the details right heah there it is Wilson 66 million TR 4 million and Taft 3000003 + 4 is 7. They what it was the Republicans would have won that election had TR not come back or if the Republican Party would have supported TR but here's the thing TR was much more radical that he was in 1901 he was much more along the lines get edit that out Columba he was much more radical than he was in 1901 and so the Republican Party work was done with him and they said let's get rid of this guy and that's why they stick with Taft and it was a did her breakup Taft was heartbroken and it was a betrayal that got nasty they almost didn't talk later they didn't talk obviously after the election 1912 went after losses and so does TR until around right 1918-19 TR and Taft had a dinner they repair their relationship they were really good friends earlier and then TR suddenly dies he dies of a heart attack pack ends up being put on the Supreme Court I buy think Warren G Harding in 1920 so tapped it stays around a really wonderful human being video for president you know but it wasn't a bad person taxes that's what the Bull Moose Party was much more radical Bernie Sanders would have agreed with this party because it was so rad he also advocated Health Care in the election of 1912 now the reason why we don't nobody pays really attention to this it's because these were all policies that will it Woodrow Wilson will support also and we Wilson gets more regulation of business more tariff reduction he gets women and children child labor reforms he raised his taxes even get for Constitutional Amendments with Wilson is domestic 10 wins this 1912 election and it's just a wonderful progress for America if you care about these government interventions if your right-wing or you say no we shouldn't do you're entitled to your opinion even though you're wrong all right we can't forget this this is a document this is about this is Washington who said I would only I want only went to terms and he quits and retires after that's a complicated story we have that in the first semester so this stigma about the presidency was usually about where you only have two terms well technically TR did not have two terms he had the first term was for a McKinley's first second term get it McKinley was the present he died he took over technically not his election so that's what this means that people who are sympathetic to tr ignore this people are critical that's the the perspective the point of view or perspective of this one is criticizing TR so this is probably GOP or Taft would support this attitude or even what's his name Woodrow Wilson would have supported critical of TR here's another one this is the Republican party I think this is Mark Hanna was a political operative machine guy in in the Ohio really good buddies with said I knew you said it already anyway this is a cartoon showing the the real Republican Party The GOP being split 5T are bull moose and last week at Taft in the regular conservative Republicans well this is the last speech of TR which we look at it there is much in Justice that can be remediated through government oh my gosh maybe we should this is a document this is oh my goodness look at this is like Bernie Sanders today he says perhaps once generation there comes a chance for the people of a country to play their part wisely and fearlessly and some great battles of the age long ago were fair for human rights perhaps less traumatic than the struggles their fathers and forefathers face the battle for social justice was well not as important if the problems created by the Industrial Age were left unattended Roosevelt cost in America would have been should be sundered by those Dreadful lines of division that's your right here Keith he's saying if we don't change what's going to happen Revolution socialist Revolution he says we know that there are in life jacket in justices which we are powerless to remedy but we know also that there are there are there are there is God darn it we know that they were life Justice which we are powerless to remedy but we know also that there is much Injustice which can be remedied the Progressive Party he pledged would harness the collective power of the people through their governmental agencies to move country for word collect look at this the collective power of the people the collective power of the people to move the country forward and how what is the power of the people it's the government we propose to lift the burdens from the lowly in the weary from the poor and the oppressed we propose to stand for the sacred Rites of childhood and Womanhood name or we propose to see that man who does not crushed man who does not crushed out of men who toil find excess of hours of Labor by underemployment by Injustice and oppression surely there never was a fight better worth making than this and finally contemplating this caused so much larger than any individual win or lose I'm glad beyond measure that I am one of the many who had in this fight has stood ready to be spent he's saying this is what I stand for and he lost to Wilson & Wilson stood for the same things Wilson stood for the same things wow I hope you sense for these guys there's a lot more fun stories you got to check it out there was a an excellent video that I would recommend to you what's a Google this is what the news about the Roosevelts a video that you have to watch it is pbs.org look at this let's find the homepage the Roosevelts PBS org is it Ken Burns series let's go to the home no school back it's a PBS series that is about 6 parts and it is extremely well done and it goes through all of the great stories here but I'm not showing a very good example of it I'm sorry but watch that we can maybe this is a preview 45 years of Jessica Smith prison and all day in general who States Theodore Roosevelt coming one century later precisely one century later says no government can do anything that is not specifically prohibited in the Constitution and he believed that the
