welcome welcome back to the history bunker this is my son's basically Studio that he's helping with all this stuff he's got going on here he's got a couple of monitors you got a green screen behind me got some of this stuff in his room so this is a pretty cool little spot and I'm going to try to help kids a little bit today and we'll see how it goes so let's start with the word finishing world war or in the middle of World War II United States where one we already finish these items so if you don't have any understanding better read it or you can ask questions is fine Wilson's moral diplomacy over there was the song it was just a document the neutrality discussion Lusitania the election of 1916 propaganda for the America America to enter the war the Zimmerman Telegram and lastly we did unrestricted submarine warfare before we move on anybody have a question on any of this you can unmute ask questions okay Lusitania everything else do you have an idea when each one of these represents or what the main ideas are if you don't you can ask all right so if you do have questions about these things these are all essential you just have to ask so we had a question about the Lusitania let's do that quickly the Lusitania the Lusitania basically was a passenger ship that was torpedoed by the the Germans 1915 so it's basically two years before we get in the war and it everybody wants to Lusitania so look that's why we got in the war well that's really not accurate it's it's one of the fact change is public opinion towards the war effort in the Germans and so it's really about propaganda if it is not the cause of American entering the war now what is the Clause of the United States entering the war is as we said unrestricted submarine warfare that is not until 1917 that occurs and that's when we enter the war we declare war 1917 so just see where that Lusitania Falls in on this whole big issue yeah you understand now Lara Lea okay good so again if you're not sure what the main idea why we care about the election of 1916 or what role propaganda play you know you got to know those things if you want to know everything on it all right so let's start up today with directions for the war we already talked about propaganda Zimmerman Telegram and then unrestricted submarine warfare and so was it start there the Americans believed that it's wrong to control the ocean to prevent people from Trading and that is our technicality we use and what Wilson uses to say we can't allow this to happen we must declare war everybody clear on that any questions no. who is that you remember me see how are you how are you where are the bunker I might now I'm on a desert island with Wilson it's just there you go that's awesome okay thank you alright Wilson support the war because he says you can't control the Seas he doesn't want England to win he sees England as one of the only countries in Europe that democracy and he sees this war out of this war will come A New World Order of collective security operation and globalization all of those things were his ideas unfortunately it doesn't happen and of course we have World War II so why don't we care about World War 1 because it leads to World War II and we care about understanding what in our future how do we prevent world wars by studying how we got into World War the effects of war and it how we end World War 1 relates to how we get to again World War II and then how after World War II FDR who was a devotee of Wilson replicate the League of Nations because it's the United Nations so this the end game is understanding of how we got in what happens how does America change and then how do we get into World War II what happens how America change what were the results of World War 1 what were the results will work to and what you're going to find out is there very very similar and number of respects and it's a really good way of or 19 all of the information so our end game right now is to see World War 1 in detail and then we're going to compare what do we understand about World War 1 and then we're going to look at how that relates to World War II and it's the best really best way to do it all right moving on we talked about Janet Rankin remember the first woman in the House of Representatives she was basically one of the only go to the house 50 votes that voted against the war in the gas significant River we asked the question if women can't vote until 1920 how is she able to be in the House of Representatives and 19 some states women could vote some states women could hold off as other states couldn't California New York the Big States wouldn't the western state like Jacksonian Democracy where some states in the west allowed white males to vote without land property requirement to remember that nobody remembers that okay well I remember that macaroni thank you are you guys are great okay cell mobilization do we see this every time we look at a war we look at mobilization and we looked at it with the revolution we looked at it with Civil War mainly how do we get our up for war
