Doug Booth is both an instructor and a performer of guitar and bass. Beginning at the age of ten, Doug has studied piano, flute, and percussion, in addition to the bass and guitar. Interested in many different styles of music, he eventually found that his ear "bent" towards the jazz guitar styles of Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass, and early George Benson. By age fifteen, Doug was chosen to play with the Santa Clara Honor Jazz Band and a year later with the California All State Jazz Band. You can hear Doug Booth on a variety of recordings including the recordings of the jazz fusion group Ars Nova and Zappa guitarist Mike Keneally's internationally released CD's. Mr. Booth has performed in productions with both Tony and Grammy award winning artists including; Ben Vereen, Eric Johnson and Boz Scaggs. Doug performed locally, nationally and internationally with "Rockola." for 23 years until his departure in 2013. He also played keyboards and guitar with "The Steely Damned." for 18 years and the reincarnation - “The Steely damned 2” since 2016. Doug also plays guitar in Xceptional Music’s Tribute to ABBA And most recently has joined the band Atomic Groove. In addition, Mr. Booth has also been a founding member of the Grossmont College Music Department Faculty Jazz Quintet called Ars Nova. Doug Booth has been a member of the Grossmont College Music Faculty since 1991. His classes have included Class Guitar I-IV, Bass Guitar and Music Theory for Guitar I and II. For the past 12 years Doug can be found teaching Music Production Technology and Graphic Design at Point Loma High School in San Diego, Ca.
