Spanish 5-6
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This functions-based course is designed for students who have successfully completed Spanish 3-4. It is intended to move students' oral proficiency to the intermediate level and to develop both reading comprehension and writing accuracy at that level. As the need for accuracy increases, grammar instruction becomes more significant. Programmed instruction, under the direction of the Spanish teacher, may be used to facilitate instruction and language practice. This course may me the needs of Spanish-speaking students whose literacy skills are not fully present.
Spanish 5-6 is an intermediate level course designed for continuing learners of Spanish. The present subjunctive, commands, direct object pronouns, indirect object pronouns, and past participles are covered in the third year.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
By the end of this course, intermediate learners will be able to do the following:
Describe continuing activities in the past Narrate past events and activities
Describe people, places, and things Describe early civilizations and their activities
Describe the layout of a modern city Ask for and give directions
Identify and describe foods Talk about food preparation and follow recipes
Give instructions and make recommendations Order meals in a restaurant
Talk about meals and dishes Describe food and service
Tell others what to do and what not to do Make suggestions
Talk about movies and how they affect you Make future plans
Express hopes and wishes Influence others
Extend and respond to invitations Talk about technology

Textbooks MUST REMAIN on campus in your locker. DO NOT TAKE YOUR TEXTBOOK HOME! We use the textbooks sporadically in class on on any day of the week. We very rarely have homework to do from the textbooks. If your textbook gets lost or damaged you'll have to see our library technician, Ms. Cooper.
Students are financially responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged textbooks. All bookplates must be signed in ink.
