Spanish 1-2

Course Description

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Spanish 1-2 is intended to provide you with a basic proficiency in four areas of communication:  reading, writing, speaking, and listening comprehension. Culture will also be emphasized as you compare and contrast the different civilizations, accents, and traditions of the Spanish-speaking world. Spanish 1-2 is a beginning level course designed for novice learners.  The present tense of speaking is covered in the first year, other tenses are in 3-4, 5-6, and 7-8 classes.

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES: 

By the end of this course, novice learners will be able to do the following:

Recite the Spanish alphabet                                       Describe clothing / Identify colors           

Use cognates to understand meaning                        Pronounce Spanish vowels correctly

Exchange greetings/introductions                               Use numbers and tell time

Name Spanish-speaking countries                             Express likes and dislikes

Describe people                                                          Exchange information                       

Identify certain Sports/Professions                             Describe weather

Ask and answer questions                                          Express where they are going

Say what one has to do                                              Express where they are going to do
