Today we reviewed our conjugations through the game BUQUE! We played both sides and some students even won. Tomorrow we will have our test on verbs that end in -ar. You need to know the following in addition to the meaning and spelling of this week's vocabulary terms.
What is an action word called?
What do we call a verb in Spanish that ends in -ar?
What do we call the part of the infinitive verb that is left over after we drop the final two letters?
What do we cal the process of changing a verb to match with the person that does the action?
What are the five endings that we attach to the roots?
Tomorrow I will collect the flashcards, five times each, and the BUQUE charts for credit. They will not be accepted after tomorrow.

Today we reviewed our verb conjugations on the BUQUE chart and made corrections on our own charts. Be careful that each conjugation has the root with its appropriate ending which is either o, as, a , amos, or an. We also defined our field of play, and added our buques to our charts.
Bring your buque charts tomorrow to play the verb game.
For tonight practice with your parents the vocabulary till you know the translations and spellings. Also read about PRESENT TENSE AR VERBS on page 96 from your textbooks so you can further understand how to conjugate a verb.

We continued our study of the vocabulary which is all about actions, and we learned and practiced how to conjugate the verbs. Here are some quick videos that explain how to conjugate a verb in Spanish.
We completed a conjugation chart called ¡BUQUE! with the infinitive verbs and all of their conjugations for each person. The verbs we used in the top row labeled "infinitivo" MUST BE WRITTEN IN THE EXACT order that is on the chart. The BUQUE charts are attached here so you can check your work and complete it at home.
Both sides of the chart are due tomorrow at the beginning of class.I will review the charts and stamp them for confirmation that they were turned in completed. If you do not turn in your work in the beginning of class tomorrow, you will not receive a stamp for full credit, you can still get 1/2 credit when I collect all of this week's assignments. SAVE ALL OF YOUR WORK, DO NOT LOSE IT. If you were on a day of an assignment, you can still do it and receive full credit when I collect your work this Friday; make sure to write "Yo estuve ausente en la fecha ___________" (I was absent on the date _______) to ensure that I give you the appropriate credit.

Today we began work on our final oral presentation which is an dialog writen entirely in class about school. If you did not finish writing your presentation in class today then you must complete it in class tomorrow. Remember that you this dialog must be memorized and presented in class on Tuesday January 21. Those of you that did complete the dialog in class will have the corrections ready to be made in class tomorrow so you can rewrite the dialog and begin practicing it with your partner. Today we took notes on the verb TENER (to have). Reread and study your notes. Become comfortable in knowing the 5 different ways to express TENER for yo, tu, el ella usted, nosotros, & ellos ellas ustedes. Buenas tardes chicos, Hoy en clase tomamos apuntes (we took notes) de GUSTAR. Remember that gusta is for expressing likes for actions and singular objects and gustan is for expressing likes for many objects.
We also read the dialog with the title EL SÁBADO (on Saturday) en página 34, Actividad 1. We then filled in the blanks for the ítems that the people like in the dialog and wrote out the entire dialog in our cuadernos.

Hola Clase, Today we practiced our vocabulary on food plus the subject pronouns (yo, tú, él, ella, usted, nosotros, ellos, ellas, & ustedes). The subject pronouns are MUY IMPORTANTE to know very well. These are used frequently and will help you to know the people are doing the actions.
For homework tonight, read from your textbook, Page 42's explanation for "GUSTAR" for understanding. Also watch the online presentation that provides further insight for GUSTAR. Afterwards ask yourself if you understand what GUSTAR means and how its conjugations are used to express what people like.

Hola Clase, Today we began we received our new vocabulario on food and subject pronouns, along with the trabalenguas (tongue twister) to memorize. Make sure your vocabulary list is glued on to the backside of today's classwork page. For homework tonight memorize el trabalenguas "Tres tristes tigres," explain the meaning of this trabalenguas to your friends and family and practice reading the trabalenguas until you are comfortable to recite it 3 times without pauses nor mistakes.

Today we completed a crossword puzzle on the descriptive words ad completed Activities 16 and 17 on the practice sheet, "Gramática: Adjectives and Gender." Remember that when an adjective describes a girl/woman/feminine object AND the adjective ends in the letter "o," then you mjst change the "o" to an "a." Trabajador changes to trabajadora for women.

Today's objective is to be able to describe yourself with "yo soy..." and another person with "él es..." (he is) and "ella es..." she is we reviewed some adjectives that can be used to describe physical appearance and personality traits.
Remember that all adjectives that end with the letter "o" are only used for males, and the "o" must be chaged to an "a" for al descriptions for females. trabajador (hard working) is for boys while trabajadora is for girls.

We also took time to look at the pointlomahigh.com and the vocabulary practice pages on quizlet.com. Families, take the time to review the vocabulary with your students. Ensure that your student feels comfortable with saying the vocabulary. Once your student can identify the terms in Spanish, then practice having your student correctly spell each item from our list. Remember that this Friday has a vocabulary test awaiting us in class.

We reviewed our new vocabulary which are the 24 activities under the heading "Talk About Activities" on page 51 of the Avencemos 1 textbook. We also took notes from a PowerPoint presentation on

To ensure that you will perform at a high level on this Friday's vocabulary test, make flashcards and practice reading the words aloud and say the spelling for each term. Families, please help out your students with daily review and practice of the vocabulary terms until your student can say each translation from English to Spanish and spell out each word.
