Pointer Cadet Thanksgiving Meal

Greetings!

This Friday beginning in Period 3 (Bravo Co) through lunch and into Period 4 (Charlie Co), we will be holding our 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Meal for our Cadets by way of potluck.

Your support is key in making this a success. For those that are able to, please ask your Cadet for what they may have volunteered for. They will need to bring
their (your) contribution before the start of school along with any appliances, if needed. Please,
no Sterno or other open flame food warmers.

We thank you tremendously for your continued support and wish you a very happy Thanksgiving and holiday season.

Snap!Raise

Good morning, Parents & Guardians of PLHS Cadets!

We are kicking off our fundraising campaign through Snap!Raise as we speak!  You may receive a text from your Cadet for some assistance.  If you could take a moment of your time, this will help jumpstart our campaign on the right note.

Fundraising helps fund many of our activities that support your Cadet and the unit in many areas such as field trips, social events, and unit pride, to name a few.

Feel free to contact the instructors if you have any questions.

Regards,
Senior Chief Andy Lista

Countdown to Snap! Raise

Greetings,

The PLHS NJROTC will be kicking off our fundraising campaign on October 11th.  We have been very successful with Snap! Raise over the past couple of years and are continuing with them this year.

The funds raised will go to support your Cadets and the unit in many ways.  Last year we hosted a couple of competitions and fed hundreds of Cadets, instructors, and chaperones.  Almost all our Cadets attended the Cadet Ball with their admission paid in full through the funds raised.  Twelve Cadets traveled to the National Archery Championships in Sandy, Utah, with their travel, meals, and lodging paid for along with entertainment.

Continuing this type of support won't restrain our Cadets from achieving their goals for themselves and the unit.  Additionally, fundraising will only boost morale, increase recruiting, and weigh heavy on retention to maintain the unit's longevity.

We have so many plans which cannot happen with your help.  On Oct 11th, your Cadet will need to bring with them a list of twenty, valid email addresses that are not of PLHS staff or other students.  Having this prepared for them in advance will increase the likelihood of reaching our goals.  See the attached flyer for more information.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Best,
Senior Chief Lista

Miramar Air Show

Good evening parents, guardians, and all other stakeholders.

The Cadets returning from today's field trip are still on the bus.  As usual, the freeways are packed at this time of the day and especially on a rainy Friday.

Updates to Upcoming JROTC Events

Greetings!

It has been a few since my last post.  Here are some updates of upcoming events.

The Area Manager's Inspection (AMI) has been postponed to April 14.  It was originally next week, but due to unforeseen circumstances, it has been rescheduled.  At this event, the Area Manager conducts a personnel inspection of each cadet.  Following the inspection is a Pass-In-Review in which parents and guardians are invited to attend.  This takes place at 1400 on the football field.  The AMI is mandatory for all cadets to attend and must have an excused absence for not attending.

During Spring Break, a picnic will take place at Mission Bay's Tecolote Shores, same as last year.  This will be on March 30 beginning at 1400 until 1800 and is a potluck event.  The picnic will promote unit bonding as well as fun and games.  Parents, guardians, and family are invited to join in on the festivities.  This is not a mandatory event.  Only cadets that are not out of town, not have other plans, and are available are highly encouraged to attend.

On May 20th is the Brigade Pass-In-Review at Lincoln HS, and this event encourages parent/guardian attendance.  Recognition of units and individuals are made, and awards are presented followed by a Pass-In-Review.

Parents/guardians are always welcomed to attend any event or competitions as spectators unless specifically noted.  Assistance is highly encouraged and is coordinated through our Boosters.

Feel free to contact us via our contact info on our Teacher's Pages.
