Biology (Period 4)

Course Content and Performance Standards

Biology will be taught using the Living Earth (Biology with Earth and Space Sciences)

instructional segments based on the CA Science Framework (http://www.cde.ca.gov/ci/sc/cf/scifwprepubversion.asp). SDUSD is using the Three Course Model Chapter 7.

Some of the topics to be covered in this course include:                   

1. Ecosystem Interactions and Energy
2. History of Earth’s Atmosphere: Photosynthesis and Respiration
3. Evidence of Evolution
4. Inheritance of traits
5. Structure, Function, and Growth (from cells to organisms)
6. Ecosystem Stability & the Response to Climate Change
