Spanish 3-4 (Period 2) Assignments

Today we reviewed the preterite and imperfect past tense verbs as used in sentences. Remember that Preterite verbs express actions that happened once in the past and Imperfect verbs express actions that happened more than once or for a period of time in the past.

 

Homework for tonight will be more practice on the mixed preterite and imperfect past tenses as used in sentences.  Reference any  new vocabulary from tonight's assignment in the glossary of your textbook.

 

Don't forget we're making Licuados (smoothies) and Pico de Gallo (fruit salad) this Friday in class.  In order to ensure that we can make this happen for everyone to enjoy in class, bring any of the ingredients to share in class. 

 

Pico de Gallo: canteloupe, watermelon, jicama, mangos, cucumbers, papaya, apples, limes

Licuados: bags of frozen berries or fresh berries, bananas, apple juice, milk, yogurt, ice cream

Bring any other fruit item that would be ideal for the above.

We'll also need disposable bowls, cups, and forks.

Unless I gave you prior approval, Do not bring baked goods or candy. 

In class we watched music videos from the Colombian singer, Juanes.  Did you see the video for "La historia de Juan?"  We also completed the crossword on preterite verbs.  For homework, complete the 20 preterite sentences on the backside of the crossword. 

 

On Friday we'll see a clip from a Spanish comedy "Días de fútbol."  Be prepared to able to write about the clip and make predictiond in Spanish about what happens next in that clip.

 

Study all of the preterite forms for a test next week.

We did a class translation of the song "La historia de Juan" by the Colombian rock musician, Juanes.  Remember that this song is about the important social issue of child poverty that exists in many Spanish speaking countries as well as other parts of the world.  This song also has focused vocabulary in the preterite, featuring regular and irregular preterite forms.

 

For homework tonight, complete the grammar activity on irregular preterite verbs on the backside of today's song, "La historia de Juan."  Also, you are expected to learn all of the irregular preterite verbs and their conjugations as well as the regular verbs, "panqueque" pancake verbs, and the -car, -gar, -zar verbs.

Today's classroom practice focused on both the present and preterite tenses with the activity titled Balancing Act.  On the front side of the page, write the translations from either English to Spanish or vice-versa.  Fill in the 33 bubbles for the 33 English verbs that have Spanish translations on the bottom half of the page.  The bubbles on the back makes an image.

 

Study all of the irregular preterite verbs listed on the sheet you received on Monday. 

Today we began our notes on the irregular preterite verbs, along with a discusion on Carnaval tradiytions in Spanish speaking countries.  For homework tonight, Read about Los vejigantes in Puerto Rico from your textbook on page 174 and complete the accompanying reading/writing activity on los vejigantes.  Study the list you received on irregular preterite verbs. There will be a test this friday on those irregular preterite verbs.

Today we reviewed the homework from the workbook page 31 on irregular preterite verbs ir, ser, ver, dar, and hacer. We also had bookchecks for our course textbook, Avancemos 2.  If you cannot find your textbook, bring this to the attention of Ms. Hancock and Ms. Cooper at the PLHS library.  Today in class we completed Activity 13 of page 71 from our textbook. Remember that the Indirect Object Pronouns (IOPs) are used with verbs like dar to explain when something is to/for someone/something.  The IOPs are attached to the end of an infinitive verb or placed in front of a conjugated verb.

 

For homework tonight, complete Activity 15 on page 72 from your textbook Avancemos 2. Write the five sentences in the preterite tense. Be mindful of the irregular preterite verbs: regular, -car, -gar, -zar ending verbs with changes in the yo form, and the 5 totally irregular preterite vebs. Bring your textbooks to class again at our next class meeting for your bookcheck worth 10 points.

 

Today we played a review game for the -car, -gar, -zar ending preterite verbs and the 5 totally rregular preterite verbs.

 

Homework due tomorrow:  Page 31 from your workbook and bring your hardcover textbook to class tomorrow.  Make sure your name is written in ink on the inside cover of the spanish textbook.

 

Study the regular preterite verb conjugations as well as those for -car, -gar, -zar ending and the 5 totally irregular preterite verbs for our test this Friday 

Today we reviewed tests from last Thursday.

 

Tonight's homework is from your workbook page 175. Tomorrow we'll practice wrtiting paragraphs with the preterite form of -car, -gar, -zar ending verbs using the backside of tonight's homework, Page 176.  Don't forget to write in complete sentences.

Today's class reviewed the homework that was originally assigned on the Friday before the Spring Break, Workbook page 24.  We practiced writing past tense/preterite sentences from our textbook page 96, activity 5.  Tonight's homework is to complete activity 6 of page 96 of our textbook. Each activity needs two complete sentences written in the past tense. 

Today we played a game to review our vocabulary on travel from Unidad 1, Lección 2 of our Spanish textbook. Study this vocabulary.  Tomorrow we will review the homework that was originally due today, Page 24 from the softcover workbook. 

 

¡Ojo! We will have a test on the regular perterite verbs No notes or flip charts can be used during the test.  Study the preterite verb conjugations.

Today we practiced reading and listening to dialogs from our textbooks pages 63 and 68.  We completed the activities 3 & 9 about the two dialogs on pages 64 & 69.  The responses must be written in complete sentences in Spanish as always.

 

We also completed the interviews we began in class last Monday. You need one question in the tú form, and two responses in the yo and él/ella forms.

 

Our homewwork during the Spring Break is Workbook page 24 (respond in complete sentences) and study the preterite verb endings and the vocabulary.

Today we reviewed yesterday's classwork and last night's homework, Textbook page 62, activities 1 & 2.  We also practiced the vocabulary in conjunction with the poreterite tense verbs on the Avancemos 2 website.  We did the practice quizzes for Unit 1, Lesson 2 and Unit 2, Lesson 1.

 

For tonight, write the vocabulary words from our vocabulary list #s 1- 42, 3 times each in Spanish and once in English.

 

Study the preterite verbs conjugations and all of the vocabulary.

Today we reviewed the vocabulary from Unidad 1 Leccion 2 and Unidad 2 Leccion 1 on Traveling and Sports. For vocabulary reinforcement we read in partners and listened to Presentación de Vocabulario on pages 60-61 in our textbook, Avancemos 2.  In class we completed activity 1 on page 62, both sentences had to be written to receive full credit. 

 

Homework due tomorrow is page 62, activity 2. Write the questions and the aswers in complete sentences.  You may do both acitivity 1 and 2 on the same page.

Today we practiced asking preterite tense questions in the tú form, listening to the answer in the yo form and restating what that person said in the él/ella form. The interview papers will be collected tomorrow.

Bring your preterite tense flipcharts for our quiz tomorrow.

Today we reviewed the preterite (past tense) verbs.  Study your vocabulary about sports on page 109. 

 

Study the preterite verb endings for -ar, -er, & -ir verb endings.  You will have a quiz on the preterite verbs this Friday.  For the test you can use your own perterite verb flip chart that you created earlier this week to help you on the test this Friday.  You may no use anything else aside from hyour brain to help you on the test.

 

Be prepared to interview classmates tomorrow.

Today we reviewed last night's homework. Today we completed Activities 14 & 15 of page 125 of our Spanish textbook.

 

Today's new lesson: When working with present progressive berbs structures, Reflexive, Indirect, & Direct Object Pronouns can be placed either in front of the verb estar or attached to the end of the gerund verb.

 

For tonight, complete page 79 from your workbook.

Today we took notes on the present progressive compound verbs in Spanish and worked on practice exercises with the present progressives and all the gerunds (regular, stem changing, spelling changing).  For homework tonight, complete page 80 from your workbook.

 

There is a test on the present progressives this Friday.  Familiarize yourself with the present progressives, the verb estar, and all forms of the gerund.  Know what present progressives and gerunds are, AND how and when they are used.  

 

Today we took our vocabulary test on the remainde of the reflexive vocabulary. Tomorrow we'll begin the Present Progressive verbs. Those are the compound verb structures like I am walking, She is studying, & We are dancing.  For homework tonight, read from your textbook, page 125 the notes on present progressive verbs in Spanish.  I've included a powerpoint presentation to give you additional help on understaning present progressive verbs.

 

 

For the past 2 days we wrote a three paragraph essay in class. On Wednesday we wrote the first rough draft, today we wrote the second rough draft.  Tomorrow we'll share our essay's with a classmate and identify the reflexive and nonreflexive verbs in that person's essay. 

 

Homework due tomorrow is page 75 from your workbook.  Study your vocabulary for a test next week.

 

 

After collecting today's homework (3 times each from the vocabulary), we began writing our essay on our daily routine.  The essay wil be finished tomorrow and must be written entirely in class with the assistance of electronic translators.  Any electronic device taken out during class will result in a ZERO for that day's assignment.

 

Tonight's homework due tomorrow is Page 75 from your softcover workbook. Bring your vocabulary list to class tomorrow or print it from our class items of documents and bring it to class tomorrow. We will complete the essays in class tomorrow.

We took our vocabulary quiz on parts of the body and reflexive verbs and worked on rewriting the short story "La rutina diaria de Jose" from the 3rd person (Jose) to the 1st person (yo).  Our focus in the rewriting is to carefully translate all verbs to the "yo" form and to change the reflexive pronoun from "se" to "me."  Tonight's homework is to complete page 76 from your softcover workbook, Avancemos 2 Cuaderno de Practica.  Also if you did not complete the rewriting assignment in class today, then finish the rewrite at home tonight and return tomorrow.

 

Don't forget to bring in a food item, if you can, to share, with your classmates tomorrow for our first cultural exchange of the semester. 

Today we celebrated el dia de san Valentin, and we translated the terms of vocabulary associated with san Valentin. We then completed a wordsearch for these terms. 

 

We also reviewed the reflexive actions found in the short story "La Rutina Diaria De Jose."  Remember that all reflexive actions need reflexive pronouns (ME TE SE NOS SE).

 

Tonight study the vocabulary on reflexive actions and body parts for a vocab test tomorrow. Thursday will have a cultural exchange in class.

Our class activity involved a "cloze" activity.  First the students independently translated the lyrics of the song "Esto es lo que hago" from Spanish to English, then the students listened to the song and filled in the song's blanks with the words that we heard sung in the lyrics.  Were you able to understand the song in class today?

 

For homework due tomorrow, read the short story, "La rutina diaria de Jose" for understanding.  YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THE READING WITH LIMITED DIFFICULTY.  IF YOU ARE HAVING FREQUENT DIFFICULTY COMPREHENDING THE STORY, YOU NEED TO SEE AFTERSCHOOL FOR ASSISTANCE IN THIS SITUATION. Tomorrow we will continue working on this short story.

 

Study you vocabulary on reflexive verbs and body parts.  We will have a test this Wednesday on those vocabulary terms this Wednesday. 

 

We'll have a cultural exchange in class on Thursday.  Bring an appetizer dish to share with your class. 

Today we practiced forming sentences with reflexive verbs and Reflexive Object Pronouns (ROPs). Remember that the ROP (me, te, se, nos, & se) must match the person(s) doing the action, and the ROP must be placed in front of the conjugated verb or attached behind the infinitive.

 

This weekend, study the vocabulary on reflexive actions and body parts.

Today, everyone played "Lo Tengo" using vocabulary words 1-18 and 29-43 for further practice and review of our vocabulary. 

 

We also received our tests from last Friday (el 3 de febrero). Are you pleased with your earned score?  If you did not score 16/16, then you should think about your study habits and make some serious changes to help improve your understanding of the material covered.  I'm available most days  afterschool for help (usually wednesdays and fridays).

 

For homework tonight complete page 74 from your cuaderno de practica.  Write complete sentences for sections 2 & 3.  Study the essential vocabulary from your vocabulary list (1-18, 29-43).   There's a vocab and reflexive verb test next Thursday.

Today we reviewed our vocabluary on reflexive verbs and daily routine, numbers 1-18 & 29-43 from our current vocabulary list.  Study these vocabulary terms. They are very important.

Today (Monday, February 6) in class we practiced our new vocabulary on reflexive actions. We completed activities 1 and 2 on page 116 from our textbook, Avancemos 2. In activity 1, write complete sentences explaining what object from the words in the textbox needed to do each of the 6 activities; Use the verb "necesitar" in the yo form to express yourself in the sentences. In activity 2, write compete sentences explaining what each body part is in Spanish. Use the verb "ser." This was due at the end of today's class.

 

Today in class we reviewed the placement of Direct Object Pronouns in sentences.  They're placed before the conjugated verb or attached to the end of an infinitive verb.  Tonight complete both sides of worksheet pages 33 & 34 on Direct Objects and Direct Object Pronouns.

 

You need to know the essential vocabulary on page 55 of your textbook, as well as the what the Direct & Indirect Object Pronouns are, how they are used, & where they are placed in sentences.  If you don't know any part of the above, You need to see me afterschool for help.

Today we took notes on Direct Objects and Direct Object Pronouns and completed the questions and responses from Page 46 activity 6 of our textbook. Tonight you are complete ativcity 7 of page 46 on Direct Objects; write both sentences for each item of activity 7 and underline the Direct Object Pronoun of the second sentence.
