October Sky and Cold War Culture

  1. How is the culture of the Cold War shown in October Sky? What in the movie lets the viewer know that it is set during the Cold War?  Give specific examples.

  3. In the 1950’s and 1960’s there was a stronger emphasis on education in the US, especially in STEM. Why?  How is this shown in October Sky?
