Alumni - About Us
PLHS Pointer Association is a 501C3, non-profit organization made up of parents, alumni, staff and friends of Point Loma High School. Our purpose is far reaching and varied we handle Alumni relations and contact information, and provide funding for Academic programs, Student achievement, and Facilities improvement.

We are the umbrella organization for all adult fundraising on campus which includes the Booster groups for Football, Baseball, Band, Cheer, Dance, Aquatics, and Girls Cross Country. There are approximately 25 Board Members including Principal Bobbie Samilson and Head Counselor Laurie Hurl.

We maintain a database of PLHS alumni so we can keep them informed of what is happening at their alma mater, and so that reunion chairs can find them more easily to ensure the success of reunion events. If you are an alumnus please keep us informed of your most current contact information. If you have an email address, please provide it to us and be sure to keep it current.

Our fundraising efforts support scholarships, grants to the staff and departments, on-campus programs, and student activities that encourage school spirit. We provide financial support for academic programs that set PLHS apart from other high schools. We raise funds to support the physical plant - for example, the purchase and installation of student lockers, and the picnic tables and benches in the courtyards. 

We produce several Newsletters each school year to keep members informed about the school and our efforts to support and improve it, as well as information about Foundation and Alumni events.

Ultimately, our efforts work to strengthen the reputation of Point Loma High School as a premiere public high school and a source of pride to our community.

Our biggest fundraiser is Membership. We do a Membership drive by mail every year, but any and all donations are welcome anytime.

This is how you can get involved: Volunteer to be a member of the board. New board members are voted in every June. We need people who can organize, write grants, do accounting, fund-raise and who simply want to have an impact on this high school. If you don't want to be a board member, volunteer to serve on one of the subcommittees (PL Unplugged, the Golf Tournament, or Dinner-Dance). Register your Vons Club Card (escrip) to PL High. Attend our Fundraising events. Please do consider becoming a member of the organization. Register your current contact information for our alumni database.

The Board typically meets the first Tuesday of each month, during the school year, at 6:30pm, in room 301 of the High School.
