Teacher Welcome:
My name is Kathy Schulze and this will be my fifth year teaching at Point Loma High School. In the years since I have started teaching at Point Loma High we have added a full Engineering and Design Curriculum.  The Intro to Design course offers college credit, while the other three courses; Principles of Engineering, Digital Design, and Engineering Design and Development are weighted credit courses.
Just so you can get to know me a little better here is a quick bio.
I am married and have lived in the Point Loma area for the past 36 years. Both of my children attended Point Loma High School, with one graduating in 2004 and the other in 2008.
I graduated from UCSD with a degree in mechanical engineering, however at the time it was referred to as Applied Mechanics in Engineering Science. After college I worked for SAIC developing computer models of US wind patterns. After that contract ended I worked for Hewlett Packard in San Diego designing the mechanical components for their printers and plotters.
I started teaching 19 years ago and  spent 12 of the years, before transferring to PLHS, at Patrick Henry High. There I started as a math teacher but over the years I implemented and taught the engineering classes that are now part of their Engineering and Design Academy. For my last  8 years at PHHS I was the Engineering Academy Coordinator.  My goal when I transferred to Point Loma High was to implement a series of Engineering courses that will give students a strong foundation in math, science, technology, and engineering. I have finally reached that goal and am excited to have expanded the program and be able to reach as many students as possible.
Outside of school I love reading, walking and hiking, going to the beach, paddle boarding, traveling, playing with my dog, snowboarding, and being with my family and friends.
Teaching at Point Loma High School has been my dream since I started teaching and I am really excited to be part of the Pointer Family.
