18? Register to Vote Here

It is easy to take part in elections when you have the tools and information! Whether it's your first time voting or you are an experienced voter who has moved and just need to re-register to vote, Voting in California will give you everything you need to get started.

Here, you can apply to register to vote or fill in a printable vote-by-mail application, find your polling place and learn what to expect on Election Day. You can also brush up on your rights and responsibilities as a voter, find answers to your questions about elections and voting, and get informed about the issues on the next statewide election ballot.

The deadline to register or re-register to vote for any election is 11:59:59 p.m. Pacific Time on the 15th calendar day before that election. If you submit an application after this time, your application will still be processed for future elections.

To register online you will need

  • Your California driver license or California identification card number,
  • The last four digits of your social security number and
  • Your date of birth.

Your information will be provided to the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to retrieve a copy of your DMV signature.

If you do not have a California driver license or California identification card, you can still use this form to apply to register to vote by completing the online interview by 11:59:59 p.m. Pacific Time on the 15th calendar day before an election.
