Senior Exhibition
PLHS Students:
Senior Exhibition is a requirement of graduation from San Diego City Schools. At PLHS you complete a portfolio and create an oral presentation with a visual enhancement. The links at the right include all the information you will need to successfully complete this project.
Check back here often to see changes, updates, deadlines, helps, etc.
Highlighted requirements that you should begin working on during freshman year are Community Service** and Best Works.
PLHS highly recommends community service and utilizes Senior Exhibition as a way for a student to showcase their experience with volunteering and community service. A minimum of 75 hours of community service
For students wishing to apply for scholarships and to 4-year universities it is very important to complete community service. Scholarship administrators and College Admittance offices weigh community service and extracurricular involvement equally important to grades and test results. They are looking for a well-balanced and well-rounded student to award scholarships and admittance into their universities.
**However - we realize that not all students are able to participate in community service so two alternatives are available for senior exhibition. A student can reflect upon an internship experience through an ROP course or an after-school job.
Best Works are classroom projects, reports, and/or assignments that highlight specific accomplishments or mastery of ESLRs skills or academic skills. Each year you should save a “Best Work” from each class so that by the time you are a senior and have to select pieces for your portfolio you have items to choose from.
As a junior you will have the opportunity to be a panelist for the Senior Exhibitions this will give you a jumpstart to your Senior Exhibition and help you to identify what a presentation and portfolio should look like. Take advantage of this opportunity. Many seniors reflect that it eased their minds, helped them create presentations/portfolios they were proud of, and took the “fear” away. Seniors each year reflect that they also wish they had begun planning for senior year beginning as freshmen. Take their reflection seriously; they speak from experience!
Check out the links below and start preparing now for a very valuable Business World Experience! You’ll be glad you did!
